I am now only teaching as an adjunct professor a the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus of Montgomery College. Two years ago we moved into our "new" quarters, The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation Art Center, formerly the bakery for the Giant Food grocery chain.
The building was gutted but the architects wanted to preserve some aspect of its former identity, so the irregular brick and cement flooring and the original ceramic tile walls remain in some areas.
Here we are looking down onto the first floor gallery. There is exhibition space throughout the building but we have a formal space for a wide range of shows.
Teaching perspective to intro. level drawing students is a pain with walls shaped like this!
After you have a little experience, however, it is a wonderful building to draw.
This is one of the least difficult views on the second floor for students to draw using one-point perspective. The pale green flooring is frosted glass.
This is my favorite part of the drawing studio...my command station with access to lots of bells and whistles!
